1. What is a secure certificate?

A secure certificate is a certificate signed by a trusted third party such as Verisign or Thawte. This authenticates the server by matching key information as the web site and the company information for the owner of the certificate. This information is sent to the browser to assure the validity of the certificate.

2. What type of secure servers do you offer?

All customers who have domains on our server have two options. They may put their files that they want a secure connection for on our separate server which is located at https://secure.cobex.net/.

You would then provide a link to your pages on our secure server.

If you want to serve secure pages from your own domain, you need to purchase a certificate from Verisign or Thawte (recommended) Verisign charges $290 for the first year, $75 each year thereafter; Thawte charges $100 per year.

3. Do I need to purchase a certificate for my domain?
If so, how do I get one?

You only need to purchase a secure certificate if you want encryption on YOUR domain and do not wish to put your pages on our secure server domain.
