Governor Gets 12 Million from FEMA
FEMA has approved the next 12 million of our loan from Hurricane Marilyn and Hurricane Bertha. The Governor had high praise for the Office of Management and Budget, Dept. of Finance and IRB for all the work they did to get the documentation together. New Cost-U-Less Coming
Lockhart Caribbean Corp. announced the first tenants in their new Market Square East Development. Cost-U-Less will move to much larger space and Caribbean Cinema Corp will open a new multi-screen movie theater in Market Square East. Both companies are putting up a huge capital investment to develop these enlarged businesses. When the development opens we will have 36,000 square feet of Cost-U-Less and ten movie screens on St. Thomas.
Senate to Work on New Business Law
The Senate is meeting today in full session with a long agenda They have legislation that would rewrite our limited liability partnership laws. The old law is from 1915 and is out of date compared to stateside laws. The Chamber of Commerce and the Commissioner of Finance are all urging the senators to pass this bill. Also on today's agenda are a nomination of Ernesto Guitierrez to the Banking Board, a bill to test drinking water and the Drug Dealer Liability Act.
Delegate Called it a Good Year
She has completed her first year in Congress and Delegate Christian-Green says it has been a good year. She made progress on an increase in Medicare benefits and the inclusion of the Virgin Islands in the President's Child Health Care Initiative. She says the deficit may be 600 million and reminds us that a complete federal audit is in progress.

Ambulances to Be Fixed.
Dr. Poblete was reluctant to accept a donation of ambulance repair from a Hess subcontractor. He said he was concerned with liability for the work. Now a compromise has been reached. The mechanics from Anthony Crane Limited, that's the Hess contractor, will work side by side with the Property and Procurement staff to do the repairs. That means the ambulances will work.
Antilles Book
The Antilles 5th graders have just published a book called We Live Here. the contents is all of the answers that visitors normally have about St. Thomas . The book is for sale for $1 each and available at the school and businesses in town.
Donations Sought For Women^Òs Resource Center
Women's Resource Center is facing a 25% cut in its budget. They are asking for the community to come forward with Christmas donations to help the centers core families. Michal Rhymer says they need all the help they can get this season, to help make the season right for the victims of crime.

Mother's Raising Sons are meeting at the Legislative Conference Room at 5:30 PM -Property and Procurement is one its way to being the largest car dealer in the Virgin Islands. They have another auction of cars coming up on Thursday of this week with 17 cars for sale.

The Sts Peter and Paul raffle results are in. 5th prize $100 to Jessica Quetel, a months tuition was 4th prize for Terry Danet, Kyle Carty gets two round trip tickets to St. Barts and Lynette Glasford gets a 27" GE TV. Bernadette Aubain took first prize a fully loaded Gateway computer.
King Molotlegi Day in the Virgin Islands.
We had a special day yesterday. The Governor proclaimed it Kgosi Lebone Molotlego II day in honor of a visit to the Virgin Islands by the King of the Bafokeng nation is southern Africa. Good thing it was yesterday, I can barely pronounce his name.
