Our site has been up since March 1st, 1995, and serves the Vitel/Cobex Network, the Virgin Islands Paradise (VIP) Freenet, and www.usvi.net Web pages. It is a cooperative partnership between the Virgin Islands Public Telecommunication System and Cobex (Caribbean On-Line Business Exchange).
We packed up our office and took the network down on the afternoon of 15 September to weather the storm. Two outer windows blew out and the office received some wind and water, but little moisture reached the network servers which are housed in a windowless interior room.
The network was brought up briefly on 18-19 September, but resumed local 24 hour operation on September 20; our internet connection was restored on the 25th.
